Winter Break And the Worlds easiest no-cook play dough recipe!

It’s Thanksgiving Break and while I love nothing more than all the extra time I get with my sweet kiddos, it’s never a bad idea to have fun things around the house to bust out when a little bit of boredom lays claim to those lazy days!

So today I’m sharing with you the quickest, simplest, no-cook play dough recipe you can use to make fast fun! No boiling water, no cream of tartar and the color choices are whatever you want!

My kids love digging their hands into this on early mornings when we have nowhere to be and I love watching what they come up with.  Plus it’s great for motor skills and pre-handwriting muscle memory too!

Just a few ingredients that I bet you already have on hand are all you need to provide a creative alternative to a hum drum routine! Tag me on Instagram @howtosuburb to show me what your kids created!

Simple Play Dough Recipe:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil (I used Vegetable)
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 drops of your desired food coloring

Mix the flour and salt, then add the oil, water and food coloring until you reach your desired color: mix it up then turn out onto the counter to knead a few times (you may need to add a few punches of flour if the dough is too wet or sticky)! That’s it-now go get your creative on!
